 What is organisation ? Nature & Characteristics of Organisation?

        A group of persons organised for some end or work. The act of process of Organising, the administative personal. A social unit of people that is structured and managed to meet a need or to pursue collect goals.

      Organisation is a structure named by a group of individuals who or working together toward common goals. Organisation is a system of co- operation activities of two or more persons-Chester L.Bernard.

      Organisation is used:

·       As a structure

·       As a process and

·       As a system,

Thus Organisation is an institional arrangement to carry an any business activity .  The activities of Organisation are good oriented and they are co-ordinated rationally by assignment of duties and responsibilituties.

Nature and Characteristics of Organisation:

§  Common purpose or objectives:

     Every Organisationexists to achieve some common objectives or goals. The structure of Organisation must reflects these objectives as enterprise activities are derived from them it is bound by common purpose.

·       Division of work:

    The total work of the Organisation is divided into functions and sub- functions. This is necessary to avoid the waste time energy and resource, which arises when people have to constantly change from one work to another. It also provides benfits of specialization.

·       Authority structure:

     There is an arrangemnet of positrons  into a graded series. The authority of every position is defined. It is subordinate to the position above and superior to one belowit.

·       People:

      An organisation is basically a group of persons. Therfore, activities groupings and authority provisions must take into account the limitations and customs of people. People constitute the dynamic human elements of an Organisation.

·       Communication:

       Every Organisation has its own channels of communication. Such channels are necessary for mutual  understanding and co-operation among  the members of an Organisation.

·       Co-ordination:

      Co-operative effort is a basic feature of an organisation. There is a mechanism for co-ordinating different activities and parts of an organisation so that it functions as an intergrated whole Co-ordinating avoids duplications and delays.

·       Environment :

       An organisation functions in an environment comprising economic, social, political and legal factors. Therefore, the organisation structure must be designed to work efficiently in a changing environment. It cannot be static or mechanistic.

·       Rules and regulations:

       Every organisation has some rules and regulations functioning of people. These rules and regulations may be in writing or implied from customary behaviour.
